Win a Free Premium Theme Courtesy of WooThemes

Chances are you’ve heard about WooThemes in the past few weeks or seen their advertisements on design-related sites and blogs that you visit. Well, here is your chance to grab one of their high-quality premium themes for free. They have kindly offered to give away a free theme to one of our readers.

Here’s how it’s going to work. If you would like to get your hands on a single-user license to your choice of three popular themes (ProudFolio, Vibrant CMS, or Fresh News) leave a comment on this post stating why you would like to win the theme or what you would do with it (please, something more than “I want it.”). On Sunday (August 3rd) I’ll use Random.org to choose a random comment number as the winner. Please leave a valid email address where you can be reached so I can get in touch with you if you win.

The Themes that are Up for Grabs:

ProudFolio

This theme was created especially for aspiring designers and anyone else needing to display a portfolio. It has plenty of cool features, including the separation of your portfolio and your blog.

ProudFolio

Vibrant CMS

If you’re looking for a theme for a full website rather than a blog, Vibrant CMS may be just the right option. It has 20 different color schemes to choose from and it’s created specifically for small business owners.

Vibrant CMS

Fresh News

Fresh News is the most popular theme at WooThemes. It has three different home page layouts to choose from and the ability to display it as a traditional blog rather than a magazine-style.

Fresh News

What is WooThemes?

If you’re not familiar with WooThemes, it is a recently launched premium theme marketplace that sells themes from four excellent designers: Adii, Magnus Jepson, Mark Forrester and Elliot Jay Stocks. They sell themes in a few different ways. Each theme can be purchased individually with a single-user license or a developers license to use the theme on multiple client sites. Additionally, they have a theme club that you can join for 3 or 6 months at a time, either for an individual user license or a developers license. As a club member you get access to all of the current themes and any future themes that are realized (they commit to releasing at least one new theme per month).

My Opinion of WooThemes:

To start with, the designers behind WooThemes are well-know and respected designers that you can count on for excellent work. I feel that the look of their themes is on par with the higher end of premium themes available today, and the price is very comparable as well. All of the current themes are available for $70 (for a single-user license).

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about what separates a premium theme from a free theme, and I think you’ll see when you look at WooThemes. Each one has a number of options and features that you won’t find on free themes that can make life easier for the user and make the site/blog more customizable. Many of them offer different choices for layouts and color schemes as well as some other options.

Ok, leave your comment – good luck! Thanks to Adii and the guys for the giveaway.

Update:

The contest has just ended. The winner is Adam from Devjargon.  Congratulations Adam! Enjoy the new theme!

  • AzAkers, July 31, 2008

The fellas at Woo are popping out some amazing looking templates. These 3 you have listed are great – if I win, I’ll have a hard time selecting which to choose.

I would either select the Fresh News theme to use for myself, or have a go at using WordPress as a CMS rocking the Vibrant CMS theme.

Thanks for the chance to win – good luck to everybody :)

  • Adam, August 1, 2008

My friend and I started our website last month with a custom design (my friend made it). We’ve gotten a lot of great response from it but we need a professional design to take the blog to the next step.

The Fresh News theme would be an awesome way to take our blog to the next level.

  • Nash, August 1, 2008

Proudfolio looks excellent, and I’d love to modify it slightly to set it apart, though I can’t see much difference between the two colour options offered on the theme page.

  • Ritchie, August 1, 2008

Of all the theme from WOO Themes I’ve seen from their live demo, Fresh News is the best. WOO Theme is a good site for site inspiration on how to integrate WordPress into a very nice blog and CMS. The Best out there.

I hope I get to be the winner. :)

  • Edwin, August 1, 2008

I would really like to have one of the themes, because I am way to busy to design my own one and I more like it to be busy with the content. So please give one to me, so I can focus more on blogging :)

  • 3rn3st0, August 1, 2008

I want one of those items for several reasons:
    1. I am not a graphic designer and depend on others to design.
    2. I want to change my blog platform, Blogger to WordPress and not yet mastered the complications of internal WP.
    3. Because my country since I have no opportunity to acquire any of these designs due to the limitations on the use of dollars.
    4. Because they’re wonderful, especially ProudFolio.

Greetings from Venezuela, excuse my bad English proficient. :-)

  • Todd, August 1, 2008

I have purchased from adii before (Original PNT) and it was easily the best theme I’d ever seen. I’ve since been considering upgrading to the Fresh News Theme since it’s…well…fresher? Anyway, if I won one, I’d use it to re-launch a magazine-themed blog I currently run. Sweet!

  • nomad-one, August 1, 2008

I’m starting a project Called wordpress college and have the domain setuo already. It will be a site dedicated to teaching wordpress coding from scratch.

I’d love to use Wootheme’s Vibrant CMS as the entrance to this site as I Love what they’re done with the layout and the ajax intro scrolling content on the front page.

It’ll be giving back to the wp community as well. LOL. Check out the site at http://www.wordpresscollege.com

  • Brandan, August 1, 2008

I really love the “vibrant” theme’s clean lines as well as the scrolling feature section on the front page. Also, the 20 or so color options are great. I plan to use this theme for a new online community we are starting to promote events in and around New York City.

  • fighting games, August 4, 2008

I would try to learn as much as possible from their code and techniques and would probably offer the theme itself to a local non-profit organization.

  • Shivanand Sharma, August 8, 2008

I’ve been to their site earlier and Proudfolio is my choice. It’s a theme especially for designers or artists (photographers) to showcase their talent.

Why would a designer buy it? This is an excellent theme (I’ve looked at the CSS etc.) and is the perfect choice for a designer like Steven (or me) who have less time to design their own site. Steven runs 3 sites (AFAIK) and I’m in a similar situation. When it comes to designing one’s own site, people tend to be perfectionists. This is where ProudFolio comes in. You’d hardly need to fiddle. Set it up, preview and go.

I don’t know if I can be lucky, but I really appreciate the work and just in case I have to, I’d buy it. Its a bang for buck.

  • Shivanand Sharma, August 8, 2008

eh… so its not me :) I’d buy it ;)

  • Julian, August 10, 2008

I would love to use Vibrant CMS for a church website I need to put together.
