If you’re looking for a new theme for your WordPress blog or website, you’re in luck. Nick Roach of Elegant Themes has offered to give four one-year memberships to readers of Vandelay Design.
I’m sure many of you are already familiar with Elegant Themes, but you may or may not be aware of their business model and how it differs from most premium themes. With Elegant Themes you can pay $19.95 per year for unlimited access to their marketplace of themes. There are currently 16 themes available, some with multiple color schemes to choose from, and more themes are being developed.
The price for membership in Elegant Themes can’t be beat (unless you win one of the free memberships, in that case I guess it can be beat
) and the themes are high quality. If you’re not familiar with their work, please take a moment to check them out.
Contest Rules
As I mentioned earlier, Nick has agreed to give away one-year memberships to four of our readers. In order to enter the contest, please leave a comment on this post and simply state why you would like the membership, which theme(s) you would use, or what you would do with the themes if you were to win. I’ll choose two winners based on comments and the other two winners will be selected using a random number generator. Be sure that you leave a vaild email address where you can be reached in case you win. The winners will be chosen on Saturday, November 15th, so be sure to get your comments in before then. Rather than publishing a new post to announce the winners, I’ll update this post and the winners will be contacted by email.

Great, I’m currently doing a bunch of wordpress powered sites, and some of these themes would be perfect. I really like eVid, GrungeMag and InterPhase. The sliding panel Coda-style featured in eVid, is a great addition.
I’m not too fond of the eGallery design, but I like the sliding block with info on each thumbnail.
Finally, I liked Who’s who and all the different posts it shows according to categories.
Thanks for the oportunity to win these themes!

First of all, kudos to you for the contest. I have been closely following Elegant themes, and their latest offering of gamer theme is simply superb. It would be a dream come true for me to win this contest and get the membership of Elegant themes.
I love the influx theme in particular, for its simple, yet elegant, feature rich design!
It is the ideal theme for my personal blog (which is on wordpress.com domain right now, which I am planning to self-host it soon).
All in all, a big thanks for the opportunity!

Who’s Who looks like a superb theme. I was thinking about finding a professional theme because a lot of the free ones just don’t seem quite right.
Who’s Who though, looks great. I’d love to use that on my new site.
November 13th, 2008
I think I would use Influx for my blog. It currently uses the default theme and so it’s kinda blah.
Thanks to Elegant Themes and Vandelay for doing this!
November 13th, 2008
These are very nice looking examples. I could use the Wooden them on an antiques site that I have and the others are, well, simply “elegant.”
Thank you for the opportunity.

I have some niche blogs which need some professional touch. Elegant Themes will surely do the job. I would love to have egallery theme for my future project. Nice contest and thanks for sharing!

I think Elegant Themes have the cleanest WordPress themes on the Internet. I think Nick’s business model is just an reputable as the Revolution series, as he still has to make the money but has basically given access to just about anyone who can afford a few beers.
I spend a lot of time creating designs but I think it will be a while before I get up to the level of Earthlytouch and Interphase. I think Influx is a different kettle of fish altogether though and is simple breathtaking in each of its varieties.
I would like the membership to get an insight into how these quality themes are made in order to improve my designs and of course use Nicks excellent work so I can concentrate on functionality.
Thanks.

I would like a membership to browse through the library of themes and try to get inspiration from them. Since I am a web designer, inspiration is a must for me, and I believe that by winning this contest, I would improve my work.
From this list of themes, I like the wooden one; it’s smooth, clean and “fresh”, per se.
November 13th, 2008
I’m a web developer a I like “elegant themes” for two reason
1- customers remain astonished when realize that their website could be like one of these template
2- I analyze all professional web template to learn “how to” improve myself
November 13th, 2008
Elegant Themes seems like a pretty good membership. Good looking templates that could be used for a variety of websites and blogs. I would use the templates for some of my future website/blog ventures as well as for when “friends/neighbors” ask me for help building websites for them. I like the “studio blue” theme the best. Very clean.
Thanks for partnering with them for this great contest!

Hi, Great give away. I’d like and would use Cion to jazz up my blog.
November 13th, 2008
These really rock. Hard rock, not some soft rock classic let’s make so sweet love in the rain under the rose blossoms on the side of a mountain after a funeral on the same day our previous lovers died crap. I’ll be checking these out regardless of if I win or not. Thanks!
November 13th, 2008
I would like the membership because of the great work and time put into the themes. I would definitely use the egallery and evid themes. I would love the ability to be able share wallpapers and video’s on the internet in this quality and style. Thanks!
November 13th, 2008
I am just starting to learn WordPress theme design. I would love to use these on my new blog but also as a way to learn more about how WP themes work.
November 13th, 2008
I will be launching a new blog to publicize our coding experiments and upcoming features. Winning this contest would allow me to focus on the content rather than delaying the launch to code up a custom theme , or launching with the default theme.
November 13th, 2008
I like “Cion”. It is very stylish and exactly what I was looking after.
November 13th, 2008
I would use Cion as a main template for my blog network.
It’s perfect, just change the colours and i would have about 10 blogs for many diferent topics
November 13th, 2008
I would use wooden on my blog.
November 13th, 2008
I am involved in several wordpress sites, most of them are for non-profits. I am pretty good managing themes and tweeking them but I can’t write themes. I would use your themes on my blog and at least 3 non-profits
November 13th, 2008
I find templates to be a really good starting point in a project! Elegant Themes’ “Evid” theme looked really nice! Kudos to them for bringing high quality themes to developers!
November 13th, 2008
Nice, I sense professional taste to themes, bookmarking.
November 13th, 2008
I would use the membership to learn and look atthe different ideas etc of the themes to become a better designer and themer.
November 13th, 2008
At only $19.95 per year and comes with unlimited access, this is probably one of the best bargains around for premium themes.
I think ArtSee would be a good fit for my food blog and Interphase would be suitable for the other sites I have.
November 13th, 2008
how about blogger blog?
November 13th, 2008
[...] invaluable design resource Vandalay Design is offering a chance to win four 1-year Elegant Themes [...]
November 14th, 2008
I will use the membership to get to know about the premium themes.
My actual purpose is to use Influx theme for my website hrdocs.org. I registered this website to collect all the available human rights related documents in one place to help related people.
It is still in development because, I couldn’t find a proper design for that site. If i get the membership it will be helpful for me.
Thanking you
Bage.
November 14th, 2008
hi there, this is a marvelous idea. I have just started blogging so I am looking for a theme to use. I quite like the Influx template as it is elegant and uncluttered which is exactly the imagesthat appeals to me. My blog will focus email marketing related stuff (bulk mailing, email branding, email signatures and whatever else touches on these topics)
November 14th, 2008
Ugh! I’m currently looking for my “ultimate” theme on my blog and have fallen in love with their elegant themes! Then I stumbled onto this post of yours, the timing can’t be perfect!
I would like the membership, because my readers said that they love my blog’s content but the current theme is the only that needs a face-lift / make over! If I can get the membership, then my readers will have no more excuse not to love my blog anymore
I love the Studio Blue but would probably use their new eGamer theme, because I do lots of reviews on my blog so the features (star ratings, video embedding, etc) would come in handy!
Really hope that I can win this one. Oh well, we’ll all know about it tomorrow, I guess..cheers
on this post and simply state why you would like the membership, which theme(s) you would use, or what you would do with the themes if you were to win
November 14th, 2008
Cion is amazing. I’m brazilian and i’m planning to launch my blog next month. “Cion” is what I was looking for….
November 14th, 2008
Very much liking the eGallery theme. I am an artist looking for an elegant, clean way to showcase my work, eGalley would do that beautifully.
November 14th, 2008
I’d installed WordPress 2 months ago and I’m still qualifying what themes I’ll make available.
After having browsed, enjoyed and bookmarked the Elegant Themes’ site, I also would like a membership to try it out. Specially the Wooden, Grungemag, Quadro, Interphase and Influx (yes, the list is a bit long, but there is a lot of subtle cool changes in both style and behavior), and see how they would feet in my tests.
Other than that, I would like to congratulate the Elegant Themes team by providing not only a great collection of modern, clean, refined and tasteful WordPress themes, but also for the subscription model adopted: you guys deserve a great support from your users community, and I’m willing to be there!
November 14th, 2008
Hi there. I am just getting in to wordpress and badly need to get up a portfolio site for myself as well as help out a friend with a site for his business as well. I must say that I think the ArtSee theme is incredible and would be nearly perfect for what I had in mind for my portfolio site that now with some rumors in my office might be more of a necessity. I think all of the themes are clean and nicely done and the unobtrusive social site sharing is fantastic. Not to mention that I think the InterPhase theme would work very nicely for my friend.
Thanks a lot for the chance.
November 14th, 2008
I don’t think I can wait for the contest to end to see if I win. If I purchase a membership now, will it be extended a year? I’m pretty sure I’m signing up as an affiliate also. My only problem is deciding which theme I like best!
November 15th, 2008
It’s already 15th November
I’m so excited to wait whether I can win or not
*waiting anxiously*
November 15th, 2008
I would love to win a subscription, as I love Wordpress and would use the themes to develop sites that I own domains for.
November 15th, 2008
I’m just starting out in web design and I would use Elegant Themes as a source of inspiration and if I won the contest I would tell the world about Elegant Themes and what a great resource it is.
November 15th, 2008
Hi,
First of all thanks for such a good giveaway to both author of the theme and the owner of this blog.
I’m a theme designer myself… and I’m planning to open a theme club too, I’ve some good WP themes already, and all that I want from this membership is to learn from inside how to organise and run such activity. I want to see how a theme can be provided and supported further, what else I’ll have to provide to a members if I’ll open my own theme club, I want to lear these all as a member of such club now, in order to understand members when I’ll open my own club an act as the owner
Shrotly, I want to gain some experience.
Regards,
