Nice roundup! I try to create a nice ‘showcase’ work for my header about every three weeks. I get some good feedback on some…nothing on others. It’s all a lucky guess, but also a nice inspiration and motivation to keep plugging away at winning crowd approval. Thanks for these…I’m already bookmarking some favorites, and will try to incorporate these designs into my next work.

Header’s really define branding and grab visitors’ attention, much like the masthead and headline of a newspaper. These are some slick designs. I’m a fan of Luova. Most of your picks are web 2.0 and grundge look. Design is changing, however. There’s a notion that’s been flying around for the last few years that web 2.0 is dying. What is the design technique of the future?

Those headers are really great, and what it does to a web site. I have see some really awful web sites out there where these people come up with there designs some of them are really horrible.

All headers are cool!. The designers are creative and they have lot’s of idea that comes in there mind. It’s obvious in their design that they have a wide range of creativity. They are real artist.

If you’re asking about header graphics, it depends on the theme. With most free themes you will not be able to change the header without editing code.

I don’t care for the headers that use too much illustration, but overall nice set.
After seeing all these amazing website headers I am so inspired. Its so interesting how a header can set the whole tone and feel of a site. I think designers really need to pay attention to their headers. A good one can make a site.

WebSite headers are one of the most important aspect of a site in my opinion anyways
RE-Defying the traditional rectangle that looks like crap if one is viewing the site in a higher resolution then the header…
When I was designing ours I asked my self what resolution would our visitor be using?
For that reason I decided to make something that looks good in all starting at 1024 and blend into all others higher.
As most headers are a rectangle this is what I came up with, drop me a line guys and tell me what you really think

Often color placement and marketing schema can sometimes draw designers into a fog. Knowing we have thousands upon thousands of colors to choose from we are like pixel scientists searching for the magical cure.

Thanks for the inspiration. I think websites headers are the most difficult element to perfect in web design. They are also the most important element on the page as that is what the eye is drawn to first.

I do criticize the definition of “creative” in the context at hand. In most cases there are illustrations, some are clever but most run of the mill.
I would say that a is creative when some peculiar functions of the web-media are leveraged.

This post is more than 4 years old. At the time it was published sites with these types of headers were pretty unique. Today these types of graphics are a lot more common, so the creativity seems to be less than it was 4 years ago.
