Showcase of Testimonials in Web Design

Published May 26th, 2009 in Galleries

Testimonials from customers and clients are used on a lot of websites to demonstrate credibility and build trust. In response to a reader request, I put together this post to showcase testimonials in action on a variety of websites. Here you’ll see more than 25 sites using testimonials, many with different approaches. Hopefully these will give you some ideas for use in your own design work.

Hi Buddy,
Thanks for the suggestion!

Osvaldas,
You’re right, 45royale’s testimonial approach is great, I wish I had included that in the post.

I always forget that some people still take testimonials seriously. I stopped paying attention for them when I worked for someone who would blatantly make them up or reword them. Even before that I thought they were phony anyway.

Patrick May 27th, 2009

I’ve never thought testimonials were phony. We take testimonials VERY seriously here, and since most of our clients are corporate entities it’s pretty easy to verify them.

I guess I just kind of figured everyone else would be honest, too. Oh well.

Alfred,
I wouldn’t say I think that there all fake, but I honestly don’t put very much weight into a testimonial if I’m looking at a product or service. I can’t speak for other people though.

Patrick,
As a business I think it’s definitely a great practice to take testimonials seriously. Reputation management is always important. That said, like I just mentioned, as a consumer I don’t give them very much consideration. If I see something bad, however, then I’ll remember it.

First of all i would like to thank you for your efforts for getting these testimonials for us :-)

We have in Egypt a nice quote says “Your fingers are not the same tall” in this case there are some clients who would love to know with whom you work and see reviews even thought I’ve seen my self x companies fake them!

in the final it’s all about integrity and i’m sure most of us here are taking our career seriously.

For me i only ask Important clients for testimonials and i believe if i add their information below their testimonial this will make them more Real or what do you think?

Thanks for the tip. I’ve always thought that some testimonials sound “forced” or “composed.” But looking at some of these layouts does make these testimonials a lot more compelling.

I used to work for Ultralase (http://ultralase.com)

Every single page of the Ultralase website has a real testimonial. (Bottom right) They are randomly chosen from a database of some 3000 real people.

You can search the database to find your friends or find someone with a similar prescription at http://thegiftofsight.com

All totally kosher: real people, real words.
