Would you say now with e-commerce designs less is more? It does now seem to be the trend to have an minimalist design. Especially for fashion and clothing websites.

Chris,
I would say that seems to be a trend with e-commerce sites. Even some major retailers are going to a cleaner look. I think it makes sense to keep the focus on the products and in some cases to make navigation a little easier.

Nice round-up. I love watching the evolution of e-commerce website design. Things sure have gotten better since I started web designing. I feel like Pinterest has really influenced the look and feel of e-commerce sites.

A lot of websites don’t take design into consideration but it really does help with conversions.

I am actually interested in this topic because I’m currently working on a project that has to do with electronic commerce. Do you think that the look and feel of an e-commerce website is important for a business that wants to sell products online. For me personally I feel that most of these e-commerce websites are too complicated for the users. I think that simplicity should be something that developers of these websites should make less complicated and include the look and feel of the website. Thank you for sharing these designs. I look forward to your next blog.

Well thanks for the nice collection but according to me Skateshoes.cz is the only design we could use for a proper ecommerce store otherwise the rest of the designs can only be used to sell clothing and accessories stuff.

eCommerce is all about interaction and experience. As a designer you need to find the right balance. It’s depending on the product to be sold, your end-user (customer), what is more important.

eCommerce web design is all about the user experience and conversion! This is definitely easier said than done and there are many factors that must be considered when creating an eCommerce website. Visitors should be able to navigate the website and make a purchase effortlessly – all while enjoying the process from start to finish.

Alex, what your saying is absolutely correct, interaction is key to user experience, the less steps involved in getting to the product details and add to cart page the better.

Design is a very important factor for ecommerce websites, to establish trust and to provide a sense of security must not be overlooked.
