30 Examples of Mega Menus in Web Design
Published in GalleriesMega menus are often used on large sites that have considerable number of pages for users to navigate. Rather than just using a dropdown, the mega menu opens up a bigger area that offers more options. While mega menus can make it easier for users to get deeper into the site with fewer clicks, the huge amount of options can also potentially overwhelm some visitors. For this reason, great care should be taken to make mega menus as user-friendly as possible. In this post we’ll look at 30 examples of mega menus in action.

Great examples of mega menus! I particularly liked GNC and Rip Curl mega menus. I agree with the previous post that when integrating a mega menu within your site, it is important that it is done in the right way. Also mega menus are better suited for ecommerce sites with many categories.
Dell and Ikea have great mega menus too
Mega menu can be a very powerful element in a web project, thanks for sharing this article!!
Chris,
Thanks for the additional examples, all look good.
Nice collection!
I am working with my current company and are developing a mega menu.
What we have found is this is a stumbling ground for bad usability. Beware random links and think carefully about your titles and grammer. People can respond very differently to how you think they will and expect something completely different to where the link actually takes them.
I recommend (if you have the budget) usibility testing as it will throw up things you never expected. Make links very literal and don’t make the user think too much about where they need to be.
Nice to see that mega menus do have a place in the web design world.
Some good stylish examples, I would include Amazon too as it is probally the most well known and used.
Nice list! Here’s one done by a friend of mine:

Staple’s menu is very nice, I like the colors they used. In my opinion the colors are very important in the creative process.
This is a great list. I’m really like the rip curl menu. I may try to implement something like this into my site.

Great and nice showcase guys
Love the nGen Works and AmazeeLabs websites.
Great,Thanks for share
Thanks for sharing such a great collection of mega drop down menus. Most of these mega drop down menus are very abundant with links at second click, this way could refuse some visitors.
People in short-term memory can hold max 7 items according to researches. I think it would be better for some mega menus to have 3-rd click.
Thanks again, for effort of collecting mega menus.
Mega menu nice list
thanks for sharing brother
Nice round up i built one over at http://www.cookercentre.com under the product finder nav link. Aesthetically it was what the client wanted and i like to think it’s simple enough to navigate.
Although i do have a couple of problems mainly if Javascript is turned off — anyone got any suggestionsa ?
Some are good and some are not but certainly these big menus make website look good
Great selection! A few that I would have left off, but very nice, thanks!
Amazing List! thankyou.
Thanks for this showcase. I’m working on a website with megamenu and I was looking for inspiration.
I use drop down menus on a daily basis, it’s come to a point where I simply expect a drop down menu to appear when I mouse over any main nav. With mega drop down menus popping up everywhere, it seems almost negligent to not implement at least some variation, be it a few simple links, or a more complex style with relevant product suggestions or content.
We just implemented a new drop down style that blends simple links with a little rich media. We included links to relevant how-to content represented with an image to the side, check it out at Mowers Direct
Nice collection here. Mega menus are very helpful for users when navigating complex websites. I have always liked them and found them useful!
