For good website design try not to clutter up your page with too many images, backgrounds and colorful fonts. Again use the Keep It Simple principle by minimizing the use of graphics and using a lot of white space. White space gives a sense of spaciousness and overall neatness to a site. Notice the white space in our site

some nice examples, but this is web. magazine style site designs are all well and good but these sites aren’t designed for the web, lots of scrolling and generic layout.

All very interesting but do you know how these sites are currently created. Are they already using some form of CMS. It is a lot of work to end up with a similar model for WordPress (achievable but tons of work).

One thing you can notice is that the Main Feature of every site is located at the top left of most designs. They usually don’t occupy the entire row depending on how big the feature is or the amount of information wanted to be presented as part of the main feature.
So it’s no surprise to anyone that a picture at that spot will ALWAYS catch your visitor’s attention. New ideas popping up anyone? =]

If you’re using WordPress there are a lot of free and premium theme for magazine or news styled sites. If you do a Google search for WordPress news themes you should find many.

Magazine-style layouts? It sounds like these sites chose a magazine-style layout when in fact they are online magazines and news sites. “25 print inspired layouts” would be more fitting. A strong collection of examples none the less although I’ve never seen a WordPress theme that comes close to any example above.

Great work.. I love anything that inspires. The word inspire comes from 2 words (in spirit) because whenever you are in the most creative moment you are in spirit. I would love some more great wordpress templates designed.

Great designs. CMS makes magazine designs a complete breeze these days.
All these layouts are cramped, busy, crammed full… not so awesome at all. Can anybody do a magazine layout that doesn’t look like the national enquirer? Anybody have a sense of style?
Defintely don’t agree with the last negative comment above. I love the clean lines and simple backgrounds of many of these these designs – among other things makes the text easily readable – terrific!
