Crate and Barrel has always been fantastic...highly usable, bold readable text, large crisp images, clean white background so you aren't distracted from either the text or the products. So many eCommerce designs are so design-happy you forget what they are selling. Also, Talbots has always been great. The retail emails are fantastic as well. Makes me want to move back up to the South Shore area of Boston to work for them sometimes! Great list. I particularly like the design of Soup Studios. I'd agree with the comment above about knowing which shopping cart was being used for each site. This would be a good insight. However, perhaps even more important for myself would be to know what CMS or inventory system was being used. Then you'd have more criteria by which to judge the design of the transactional website.
