I really love the contrast that can be created from creating dark designs. I rarely create white or lighter colored designs myself. I think it’s also easier on the eyes than some lighter ones.
Unless your website contains a lot of graphics, I’d say no to dark backgrounds.

Thought this was a great article and a great collection of examples. I found these examples fresh and inspiring and in particular I really liked the qindex design. I loved the layout and how they used the grid on the background. I also liked the use of colour with Dark purples and the simple typography. Great collection and I look forward to more from yourself.
Nice examples someone… even if I don’t like so much the black background. My preferite site are like Shopify with a gradient in the center of the same site. Thanks for sharing

Nice set. I’m generally not a fan of dark-background websites, but the design put into most of these is great.
A lot of white text on a very dark background website is painful to read (at least to me, and I use a dark theme in Visual Studio). These seem to have enough variation and imagery to break up the contrast. Very nice!

Awesome collection, some are too dark, and some are pritty good.
Show me website. Dark dizayn but good. Dark Backgrounds are good technical for websites. My website is oyun-in.blogspot.com
Dark design is good for contrast effect. But, personally I prefer lighter color design. It’s cleaner and easy to read.
The Abbell Associates design appeals more, it is not mired in dark depressing black.
