Really? Where’s lds.org on this list? Quality design on the kind of massive scale normally reserved for social networks. I find it to be a pretty beautiful tribute to faith.

Brad November 14th, 2011

Ah – I see you’ve got one of the smaller sites in your previous list – one that I hadn’t seen before: http://jesuschrist.lds.org/SonOfGod/eng/

Very nice – I think my favorite is the app-like UI they’ve built for reading the scriptures. http://lds.org/scriptures/?lang=eng

Some site is really good like design. Is typical starting by graphic have and old paper or parchment.. But site like “Beautiful live experience” and “Redemption” are so innovative..for me.

Brad,
Yes, this post is a follow up to several other collections of church websites we’ve published in the past, so there are a number of good church sites out there that are not included in this particular post.

These are lovely. However, I conducted an accessibility audit on all 25 of them. NOT ONE OF THEM…no, not one…is accessible. I first tested keyboard accessibility as that is the easiest to test for. Only 3 passed this test. Of those, I then tested for closed captioning or text alternatives to multimedia. Of those, only 2 passed that test. That left 1 site, which I then tested for screen reader accessibility: failed.

So much for the Word of God being accessible to all people!!

Some fantastic examples of well designed church websites. I like the fact that they don’t rely on cliches like clouds and praying hands etc but instead adopt much more modern and up to date designs. Attracting new members is an important issue for the church so having a well designed website is an important factor. There are a number of sites here that I particularly like but I think the Redemption site stands out for me for its nice use of css3, good typography and interesting textures.

Church sites never have to be the dull boring black and brown. This is proof of it.
