25 Impressive Blog Footers
Published October 27th, 2008 in GalleriesFooters are often an afterthought in blog design. I know firsthand, because my footer is about as basic and uneventful as it gets. The blogs on this list are excellent examples for the rest of us that the footer can be a helpful and interesting aspect of the design (maybe I need to make some changes to mine).
Some of the examples shown here use visual elements to make the design of the footer more interesting, and others simply focus on providing navigation or information in the footer that will help visitors.

CSS-Tricks is very cool, there’s some great designs here. Cheers Steven.
Wow! Those are so inspiring, I’m off to re-do my blog footers!
Hey thanks for the shout-out Steven! Footers are a great place to go crazy do something interesting with design.
I wish rotation would make its way into CSS so I could line up my links with those slightly-off-kilter tags.
Proves that people are paying more attention to that area of the site and just throwing a bunch of crap down their is not acceptable anymore.
Are you spying on me? It seems as though every time I am looking for something, or thinking about something web related, You post on that topic! Thanks for this, Very good round up.
I believe that we should emphasizes more and more towards utilizing the footer area as a way to promote useful information.
wow! this is new I like csstrick and webdesignerwall footer, very lovely.
Oh, wow! Thanks for including me!
Chris,
You’re welcome. You have a great point about doing something crazy and experimenting. If you come up with a footer design that’s not so successful, it’s still only a footer and it’s better than screwing up somewhere else.
Tyler,
No spying, but I do have a crystal ball. I wish. Actually, this was a rare last-minute post for me because the one I had scheduled to go tonight just got covered by someone else yesterday.
Aisling,
You’re welcome. Thanks for linking here.
Great footers; pushing the bounds of what a footer is. Mines pretty simple.
thanks for including ProBlogger
This is great, footers really are the icing on the cake when it comes to a design, especially a blog that can feature so much info down there, nice round up.
I feel very honored that you mentioned my site among the greats on that list~ Appreciate it!
Thank you
Great list, I love Brad Candullo’s footer.
Wow Steven this is exactly what I’m working on for two design projects – nice timing!
Hey Steven.
Not been commenting as much of late, but I’m still very much enjoying your content. Thanks a lot for the feature, and have a great week!
Very nice list of designs.
CSS Tricks Footer looks awesome.
This is great, an obvious idea, but as far as I know no one has done it before. Got it bookmarked and will be coming back for inspiration! Thanks
wow nice list. Thanks for share !
Great inspiration!
Wow, such a great list. Footer design is such an art which i never seem to get the hang of.
Hey, David here from wearenotfreelancers, thanks very much for the feature!!
hmm, its time to think of redesigning my footer! nice list..
Darren, Soh, and David,
You’re welcome. Thanks for the inspiration!
Fred,
I think it was done a long time ago before many of these blogs were designed (or re-designed), but I can’t remember where.
Great collection. A few of the blogs listed are some of my favorite design resource sites.
Hey, what do you think about mine? I just restyled it in CSS.

Would love to hear your thoughts…
Thanks for the feature! I think a footer should be as well-designed as the header.
Hi, found you on Dzone! The first one is my favourite, but i like the effort that’s gone into them all. Come to think of it it’s true that footers are usually boring (I never really noticed before!).
It’d be neat to have a cool footer but most of the time you’d be the only one who knew about it. Kind of like wearing really pretty underwear…!
Zoe,
Yeah, I think it’s something that most people won’t notice, but those who do will be impressed and it will make a memorable impression.
It is is probably just me, but I hate those fat footers.
Jaan,
Any particular reason?
Nahh, not really. I just dont see footers as being that large in the design process.
What a great gallery of examples to be inspired by!
I wish rotation would make its way into CSS so I could line up my links with those slightly-off-kilter tags.
oh that’s really interesting article, showing that more and more people add spice to the website also thinking about footer..
Wow, thank you so much for featuring me in such a list with all these amazing designers. Incredible.
The wonderful set of footers are here. But bad thing is that I am not a designer and also we may not use the same footers on our blogs
Impressive blog footers. CSS Tricks is particularly good.
Wow.. I should have paid more attention to my blog’s footer. Sometimes we thought that it’s not important since it’s located at the bottom
I’ll patch up my footer on my next theme make over
Wow! Interesting footers, can you give me more ideas for that?
thanks for sharing, We would expect similar useful resources form you.
Good roundup of blog footers there – I’m (not) surprised to find some of my favorite design blogs (CSS Tricks, WebDesignerWall etc) in there.
However, I am a bit disappointed with some of your inclusions. Design is subjective, but what exactly is impressive about DavidAirey.com and Problogger’s footer?
Hi Sumesh,
To answer your question, David Airey’s footer is unique (at least in my mind) because it repeats the navigational menu from the header. Problogger’s just has a lot of useful links for navigating through the site. Not every item on the list is intended to showcase amazing design, just meant to give some examples of what can be done with footers aside from the typical copyright listing and a few text links.
Hi. I really like this collection. Another good collection can be found : http://www.backtoessentials.com/showcases/100-creative-examples-of-footers-for-web-designers/
Hi! I have a brand new, original, wordpress design with a “sketching” theme.. Check it out if you want =) Hope you like it! (hope you like my footer aswell)
Very cool, I think I will try to make one for my gottv.blogspot blog, wish me luck. Great Post this was just what I was looking for
Great information! At first time i have find something which i like http://www.whiteshaarks.com the most. It all made to see the theme of the site.Even they give proper attention to the color combination of the site so that clients will never ever complaints to the WS.
See my blog footer, it is very nice!
I found this page through a link at Blog Design Blog. I must say, I am very inspired now. It’s like, I can now think outside the box.
i love all of them
nice list
Im a fan of “Web Designer Wall” I like his blog’s footer.
i tried to make a cool footer but i cant edith the width, i also will try to make something fine.
Cool footers guys
I love them all. Every footer is unique and creative.
there was a web design book that says ‘do not waste time with your footer as it is not noticed that much’. Somehow it’s true but who’s the boss?! and besides, we, the designers, should be the one to dictate and control how visitors navigate our site right? not the other way around! hehe! rude?
Wow.. I should have paid more attention to my blog’s footer. Sometimes we thought that it’s not important since it’s located at the bottom
I’ll patch up my footer on my next theme make over
Thanks for the awesome post! The collection is really inspiring and just in time for me.
I’m looking for a perfect footer for my website. And just want to ask, may I use some of the ideas (of course everything will be customized) while creating my own website using the services like this http://www.site2you.com ?
Designers are giving more and more importance to blog footers these days. That’s fair too…..I mean designers have traditionally neglected them by simple keeping the obligatory copyright line there. But these creative footers can actually help you to capture and maintain your visitor’s interest. Thanks for sharing this nice collection.
yes , i am agree with Ashley , the blog footer its realy necesary . True , the header is first to see but still ..
nice pick. I love these footers. the 1st one from css-tricks really the best one.
really amazing blog footers thank you very much
These are amazing, amazing photographs! Wish I had the time (and talent) to put stuff like this together. Wow!
now it’s time to make a header and content showcase and we can combine them to make some attractive websites
)
Makes me want to go and redesign my site. I wonder if you might know some wp pros that can do something similar to the ones I see here.
Great ideas. Now if only I could get a set of list that could help me make this kind of graphics design. Do you guys know of any tag here that could lead me to this?
Nice collection. Dreaming is great.
Great work very innovative
