Last year I published 25 of the Best Photographer Portfolio Websites. Today I’d like to follow up with another set of 25 sites for your design inspiration. (Update: Also see 25 of the Best Photography Portfolio Sites – Part III)
In this collection you’ll see a good deal of variety between the sites. Some use a minimal layout that showcases the photos without distraction, and others are a bit more flashy. Regardless of the style, an effective and attractive portfolio site is an extremely valuable asset to a photographer. In many cases, the design of the site itself can be rather simple as the photography is usually very dominant in the appearance and look of the site.

This is indeed a fascinating collection. Some of these portfolio websites really do a great job in showcasing the unique talents of the photographers. I especially liked the no-nonsense, straight-to-the-art approach of the Rinze Van Brug site.

I love photographers’ websites, especially those with a rich portfolio and a nice web design. They always excite me. What I feel is that a site should be designed in such a way that it brings out the essence of the photographer, his or her uniqueness, and also doubles as a nice showcase of some of his best works. Most of the sites on the list have achieved this.

Stunning collection of photog sites. I love great photography, commercial or not. One thing I have to caution photographers about when building websites…if you want to gain good Search Engine Ranking. Something I see a lot of photog’s do is put a Flash page right up front as their home page. The Search Engine Crawlers don’t like Flash. I’m not sure if they will disregard your site because of it, or if you will just lose a little PageRank, but it’s not good.
Wow Evaan Kheraj’s work is amazing, thanks for sharing all these great sites. To comment on Bruce’s thoughts on page rankings I disagree. It only really helps wedding photographers. Most people in the pro world are destination sites not something you randomly google. In order to succeed I would start thinking more big time instead of Sears Portrait thinking.

Quality sites. Does anybody know of any photography sites or technique tips which look similar to the Hipstamatic iPhone effect? The photos look like retro vintage polaroids, been trying to find something for a while.
I love the website design for the Mark Lobo photography. Well when it comes to web designing one very important thing to considered is the topic you want to go on with your website. These photography sites are one of those examples of web design wherein the web designer really apply on what the photographer does.
This is an amazing set of sites, appropriate to the caliber of the photographers themselves. Some of them have changed since the original selection, and they’re even better! Given the innate eye of talented photographers, we should expect their sites to be a visually engaging as their images.

The subjects of the photographs really had nothing to do with the selection for this list. Is was all about the website itself, not the subject of the photos. If you’re interested, there were a few landscape photographers in the first collection.

Some of these are nice, but very flash based. It would be nice to see how strictly html for images could be used

I learnt the basic photography rules from Mr. Kishore Mamillapalli who is one of the leading wildlife photographers from South Africa. He used to say that “Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder”. If you like what you see on your camera screen, or through the viewfinder, you will like the photograph.
There are some basic photography rules for composition. Once you know these rules, you can use them, ignore them, or break them. Follow your gut, and you will end up with spectacular, sometimes breathtaking results. Kishore is really an astonishing wild life photographer and has a great eye for details..
