Making and placing a visually enhanced background really helps the website’s overall aesthetics. My younger days as an artist taught me that creativity such as this keeps the user on the page longer. My hat is off to you for posting these attractive websites.

Regarding the shabbyblogs header – I think they built it with simple divs & background images, then used a small flash movie to create the little guy on a swing.
The Drupal site has long been a favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing.
