35 Beautiful Minimal Websites – Part 6

Published in Galleries

Collections of well-designed websites with a minimal approach have always drawn a great response from our readers, so we’ll continue the series with the 6th showcase post of this kind.

Due to the large percentage of our readers that are interested in minimal designs, last month we launched a gallery site, Minimal Exhibit, that focuses on these types of sites. Many of the sites featured in this post have also been featured at Minimal Exhibit, so if you like what you see here, be sure to follow Minimal Exhibit where many new sites are added each week.

I’m a big fan off minimalism and I have to say you did a great job, although some sites aren’t so minimal in design.

Zach July 7th, 2009

FYI Penflare’s website is a very popular WP theme… just sayin’.

Vandelay Design July 7th, 2009

Thanks Zach, I wasn’t aware of that. I removed it from the post.

hello
im alex i think your web site has to many pics
and to little of text alsoto much text on the side you should spred it out x

John Gibbard July 8th, 2009

Some really nice work in here but it is very telling that a large number of these are portfolio sites. Whilst we aspire to this sort of minimalism online, the reality of balancing brand and content demands alongside entirely usable interface design means minimalism often isn’t practical. Volkswagen.co.uk is a notable example of a case where it HAS been done for a major brand.

Vandelay Design July 8th, 2009

John,
I agree with you, it’s often not practical depending on the company and the needs of the website.

Albert Decruz July 8th, 2009

The blog information is very informative and the presentation is very much impressive Keep doing.

Web Templates July 9th, 2009

A lot of nice sites that just get the job done without all the flash.

Mark Carter October 3rd, 2009

These really made me smile. Working at a company where white space if considered virtually criminal (!) … and KISS something close to heretical …. I almost feel like a revolutionary trying to remove stuff and open the designs out!

Ronnie Affee January 25th, 2010

We used to have a complex website that was working well for us but I was tired of looking at it. About 3 months ago we started it’s redesign. We have added a lot to it including articles and blogs but we really want to keep it simple. Even are buttons are in html text. I think simple is sometimes better.

Great articles!

I wish my clients would appreciate the art of minimalist websites … unfortunately the Gold Coast is known for its bad taste …
Not wanting to add to it – we are trying to educate our clients about “good design” and hope that our message gets through to them.

Sashamisha June 11th, 2010

Pithiness it’s what I like so much. In Ukraine it’s a great rarity))
