The amount of different techniques and ideas that people come up with using Photoshop continues to surprise and inspire. Of course the great thing about these type of tutorials is the new techniques and features you discover and learn about whilst doing them rather than just the end result. I think some of the more subtle and slightly less fantastical effects such as creating the dark melancholic scene could be particularly useful. I love the Google maps parody as well, simple but effective.
