There are some very well designed sites out there. I hope my site(when done) can be on a list like this.
TyCat,
Thanks for your response. Let me know when your site is done, I’d like to see it.
That is a great collection… I like simple designs as well. Simple and clean are great attention getters when you want to highlight something it is easy when everything else is clean. Scott
Minimalistic designs are the way. It has great benefits, the illusion automatically transforms content into an elegant masterpiece. “Daily Blog Tips” also have a very clean cut design.
nice selection
Excellent collection. I love minimalist sites. Nothing must get in the way of the content which is why people are there. I have tried to keep my blog as minimal as possible as it’s the writing content I want people to see.
I hasten to add I am no designer, so it doesn’t work in IE, lol.
minimalistic doesnt mean white. I woud have liked to have seen more colour out of 25 designs
I love minimalistic designs. Thanks for sharing all of these Steven, I enjoyed looking through your selection.
I’ve been experimenting in minimalism with my small site. It gives a tremendous sense of release and freedom, and lets you focus on the power of words. Of course imagery and color have power too, but words are themselves minimalist representations of often complex concepts.
I’d have to agree that most of these designs do excel in the minimalistic department; good compilation!
Nice list Steven! I especially like SEO Design Studio and Ben Hulse Design. How come VandelayDesign is not the list?
I looked at a bunch of them and I must admit I didn’t like a single one.
You forgot http://leenutter.com/
I think http://rndware.info is beautiful and minimalistic too
Minimalistic always is good in terms of site loads speed but I find that it is hard for minimalistic themes to fit in any colourful banners. I am not sure about others but I am facing the problem.
Anyway, the list of sites are applying minimalistic well and they certainly looked good.
Hi, look at http://www.sonnenstaub.com – these are some friends of mine – minimalistic and beauty is their passion…
SEO Design Studio! Who does work with them?
I would too love to have a simple design like that . These design are good for getting some inspiration for designing.
http://www.pauliesportfolio.com
i found this website designer, the prices seem cheap and the art is looks authentic and orginal. check out the two sites they have on the choose your site link. i have seen both of those sites before. i like the contact page, a little humorous!
http://www.pauliesportfolio.com
primitive design IS creative art without any pictures. try that.
Great design examples … we’re in the process of re-launching our new website and in the mean time, we decided to use a minimalistic design for our front page. It’s funny, never thought we would receive so much praise for a static front page. But goes to show you, simple is better.
Some nice designs there. Most pretty well known but nice never the less. I really like the Rainfall Daffinson design.
I’d vote for http://www.tripntale.com
Russ,
Sorry you didn’t like any of them. Not everyone has the same opinion on designs.
Thanks everyone for your feedback and suggestions.
I’ll vote for Daniel Scrivner, very very nice site.
You need to see our web site too:
http://www.hexaid.com
Yeah Mitch Bryson is the one posting my client’s work on his site without their consent — even after they sent a formal letter requesting that their work be taken down. I advise not to use him for any work unless you want a childish 21 yr old involved in your project.
Daniel Scrivner’s site is the most beautiful website out of all these. Its simple and clean.
Nice list! My site is done… Will you add it
Good Impressive Collection
I think, ‘Google’ has also got an Efficient Simple design
:)
Karthik Balaguru
crap websites .. thats the end of that!
pop,
Sorry you didn’t like them. Funny how you chose to leave an anonymous comment with no link when you have something negative to say.
In my opinion minimalistic website are better in points of SEO.
Nice collection Vandelay,
I found some beautiful design which i can use in our new projrcts…..
Thanks for listing my site! Wish I would’ve cleaned it up earlier.
The design will be released as a free WordPress theme soon.
Curtis,
No problem, I really like your design. Thanks for stopping by.
I like the form and function seamlessly integrated with the airy use of white space and solid definition that many of these sites emulate. I am an artist first and one who creates SEO web design second, but I truly appreciate minimalist web design such as this. It truly is inspiring.
nice selection. i like jonno riekwel and seo design studio.
I work at a minimalistic Website. http://www.leoamato.com

I love simplistic yet effective designs… too many people try to complicate things when it comes to design. Complex designs usually mean more to take your visitor’s attention span off of the verbiage or message you are trying to get across to them.
I like http://www.hazelwoodtimes.com too. Nice simple, clean designed news site.
I have gone through one superb design websites, and they really rocks, amazing design they have made for their blog.
http://www.ndesign-studio.com/
I love minimalist website design… when i can find it. They’re quite rare. But i think – sadly – it’s an aesthetic appeciation that is lacking. In music, silence holds the notes together; it’s the space in which they are born. Same with design. The while space is so important; it gives room for the content to breathe.
It must have taked a lot of time to search and collect these beautiful website. Well done, Thank you! I am still new to web desgin, hope my website will be in this updated list someday in the future.
Hello, my friend!
Please, don’t hate me, I just want to earn some money
See you!
Buy phentermine here!
It’s very good one post.
I am a big fan of minimalism with regard to web design. The sites above are definitely examples of this, although I find a number bordering on austere, especially with regard to colour.
My favourite is johnmerrells.com as it’s restrained, but still brings colour and gradient to the mix.
matt spann has a good one

Excellent collection. I love minimalist sites. Nothing must get in the way of the content which is why people are there. I have tried to keep my blog as minimal as possible as it’s the writing content I want people to see.
I hasten to add I am no designer, so it doesn’t work in IE, lol.
nice collection.
This is a really great collection of web designs. I work with small business to help them develop an internet presence and business as a result. I believe designs such as you’ve displayed here are much more effective than a typical massively expensive flash site. Nice stuff!
It’s a wonderful design indeed. Love to see a clean minimalistic design and willing to have one. It’s really a great job.
I love the designs selected here – the more minimalist a design is the more visible the message. Thank you!

Very interested designs!
Very nice design.Design collection is enriched.
You can even build a separate topic beautiful designs in the style of Web 2.0, which now has gained momentum and is very popular. Thank you!
The theory that less is more certainly applies to the websites mentioned above. Using focal imagery works really well to help you build your website and can help link certain colours to enhance your design. It especially works well if you keep the design uncluttered with minimal text and secondary imagery. The 4th design shown above is my favourite and seems the most simplistic when it comes to the navigation. Great Post!
Check out http://www.hi-rise.co.uk/ for a real minimalistic site.
Outstanding collections.
I will definitely opt for using these type of designs.
Here’s a couple of my faves!:

Thanks for compiling this long list. Haven’t yet gone through all of them though.
Great ideas, I can always learn from these good designs and have more choice, thanks for the time.
Good article. Needs more dark designs (reverse light type on dark background), tho!
My two favorite dark designs recently:
http://www.blackestate.co.nz/ (a New Zealand vineyard)
http://codep-help.co.cc/ (info and help for women abused by narcissists and sex-addicts)
More dark designs!
Sadly some of these minimal web designs are no longer with us … such are the joys of the web! Having just come across this article, that was a shame.
Many thanks for the selection though …
Thanx for sharing. I’m really inspired by this post. Keep it up!
In my own way I have striven for minimalism and clarity – nothing should get in the way of the content and the message. I’d like to get some feedback on what is good and what is not.

Cool gallery. We have been recently updating our site, making it a little more non-minimalistic
. Less is more, yes…but the target audience knows so little it often needs more information than the people who make the site provide.
Pay us a visit: http://www.das-labor.net
Cheers.
Great list of beautiful and simple websites.
I am very drawn to these kind of sites, but I have to admit there are some crazy and ‘allover the place’ sites that I like too.
However, these are fantastic, the only problem is most of my clients dislike them- they always feel something is missing, they are too used to the confronting type of designs.
Here is a great minimalistic photography site http://www.stephenkiersweddings.com/
Although a little old this is still really valid, just remove the junk and get to the point.
There are some reall simple and inspiring designs here thanks for this valuable post.
Thanks for sharing these examples of minimalistic websites.
Great collection – minimalism is the best way to present a website –
For maximal minimalism try Elliot Jay Stocks WP theme Starkes and add a bit css – and ready is a clean coded wp-site. Cheers
Your designs are very good, I have to keep coming back to look

Sometimes simple is best and highly effective, it lets the user enjoy the experience rather than them being bombarded with too much
It’s a real shame that flash is the enemy of SEO. I love working with flash but it just doesn’t make much sense to do so. Luckily, I can always showcase some cool flash based web design on my homepage.
Hello.
Really nice.
I think if I like them so much it is because they are sober.
By that I mean that they prouve that you don’t need to overload a page with images to make it look nice. They are almost full-css, and I like that.
Thanks.
Hey, thanks for the post. I’ve been searching for some great ideas for some of my clients and these designs give me lots of good ideas. I can’t wait to look at the other designs you have on here.

I try to use minimal design but you have to sometimes go off track a little design is all well and good but its not talking to your customers whats the point?
great and simple designs. can anyone suggest the place from where one can purchase these designs..
dotcompas,
They’re not for sale. They are custom designs.
Thats a shame.. I’d buy a couple of them em!
As always from Vandelaydesigns, super quality stuff!
I love these kind of minimalist designs. It is hard to use that approach for ecomerce store though. Do you have a list of minimalist designs meant for shopping sites? That will be really useful for people like me.
Cheers!
Rings,
See this post for some ecommerce examples – http://vandelaydesign.com/blog/galleries/clean-ecommerce-designs/
Thx for the links. I have always been a fan of simple designs like this. I think it’s mostly because if the design is simple the navigation is usually simple too which makes the site easy to get around.
Number one and two are definitely my favorite.
Sorry for bumping a old article, I just downed a fifth of Patron and I’m pretty nicely feeling.
:p
nice list of minimal design inspiration…thanks for list..
I love minimal, trying to tell your client that less is more is sometimes quite difficult. Sometimes they do not feel that they are getting value for money if the site is all singing and dancing.
I find many of these to be almost ‘too’ simplistic. Minimalist designs should still incorporate some sort of visual hook to draw you in. The Kind Company site was probably the only one that grabbed my attention.
awwwsome collection, im going to be busy with all these pages today. Once again they’ve proved it simple and elegant design goes a long way. #
Thank you so much.
i love the ben hulse design layout, its very minimal but like the idea of using just one large image, looks really impressive. Has anybody seen anything like this in the form of a wordpress theme?

This is a good selection of sites you made. My favorite of your selection is Ben Hulse Design.
I like the Mark Boulton Designs, excellent typography. Brilliant!
I’m minimalistic….so I like the theme of Jonno Riekwel
Minimalistic website layouts are really great. Especially those you’ve kindly presented to us.
I tend to use the standard WP theme for some of my sites. Those look really good.
There’s some great designs on here, thanks for the inspiration! I like to think my site is pretty minimal too…
Wow, just awesome!! All the designs are excellent. I really want to congratulate the designers for this great job.
I love minimalistic designs…I’ve got some ideas from your site for mine. I’m also looking to see if you have an affiliate program so that I could refer my church contacts to you.
Hi Davida,
Sorry, but we do not have an affiliate program.
Nice set of designs but they are very simple….
Jenni,
Simple is the idea.
The Ben Hulse Design is different. And i like the design most. And the other collections are really great. Thanks for sharing.
Sometimes less is more…
Great and simple designs.
Thanks for this topic.
For social news, I like http://www.subbmitt.com It is like Digg or Reddit, but with a much better, cleaner design.
Minimalistic Designs are good as long as you make sure you have plenty of content to keep the user interested.
The best part is that none of the above designs doesnt strain the eyes. I like the designs and color combination. They are simply terrific.
Daniel Scrivner’s design is my favorite. Very sleek.
We subscribe as best possible to minimalistic web design. Not only is cheaper and easier to develop, but it’s actually more effective for a wide range of audiences (not every audience though). Personally, I think it boils down to choosing the right fonts for the most part.
Beautiful,simple design
frieze looks so good
The designs are simply beautiful. I like them. Some of your work inspired me and I’m looking forward to make great designs too. Thanks for the post!

Beautiful minimalistic web design here!
I like the wordpress design – how long did it take you to get this list going?
nice inspiration and awesome designs…
Thanks for this post…
Great work putting this together! I really like the Indie Labs and Rikcat Industries sites you showcased. There’s definitely a finesse in being able to successfully pull off a minimalist design — it’s harder to chop then it is to add.
We just published an interesting article entitled Why a Minimalist Website Design is Better, check it out:

I like this website. Beautiful one,
I like flash websites most. They are so full of life
I love the None-Design Media Theme is very nice. Thanks for that.
Usually, i am great fan of minimalistic web designs, thanks for putting the examples here
Hi Vandelay,
This is a truly great collection of minimalist designs.
About that point – making it memorable – who says minimalist cannot be memorable?
And: sometimes, in their anxiety to see design surpass the lofty heights of words, designers tend to downplay textual content. My experience tells me that that is an almost contagious tendency among some designers. Why is that?
I’d guess both design and words have their own places – and very critical ones at that – in the area of communications. But seriously, it may well be just an illusion of mine.
The thing is, i just don’t like it when people start making such silly comparisons.
It’s like comparing Shakespeare and Van Gogh. The thousand words from the one cannot be compared to a picture by another. Hope everyone gets around this and such misconceptions.
Cheers,
Nikhil
It takes a lot of design sense to make a simple website look good. I enjoyed going through the sites.
I definitely prefer simple designs that are easy on the eye when it comes to web design. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful! But I wonder why such articles never focus on Non-design company related websites? Preaching to the choir is not as inspirational as showing how such work can be transformational in, say, the medical field, or education, or journalism.
Still…very brilliant work. But what else would we expect from professionals on our field.
I understand this post is from a few years ago. Nevertheless minimalist designs are equally prevalent even today. I think however that many of the minimalist sites today make use of large graphics or backgrounds, even if they are simple and don’t have the usual slideshows, jqueries, etc.
Beautiful, I’ve been looking for some nice clean designs to get some ideas for my new website.
I’m not much of a designer and work primarily with wordpress, it’s hard to get a minimalist looking site without something “missing”. Most of these do work, but a few of them just look a bit bland and short of content…think the personal portfolio ones work best…
I work with small business to help them develop an internet presence and business as a result. I believe designs such as you’ve displayed here are much more effective than a typical massively expensive flash site.
anyone want to design a website with best experts , i am designer work with miracle web solutions. Pvt Ltd Company
I’m impressed, I have to say. Actually rarely do I encounter a weblog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you could have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is excellent; the problem is something that not enough individuals are talking intelligently about. I’m very blissful that I stumbled across this in my search for one thing regarding this.
Awesome, your minimalistic list is great. I’m really impressed.
