Wonderful and creative list..thanks for masking such a amazing things.
Pretty comprehensive list. Personally though I don’t really like downloadable layer styles that much. I understand that they are convenient, but I think if you’re willing to take the time/effort to come up with a custom design you may as well tweak your own layer styles. I would only use these as a basis to understand how certain effects were created, and then try to replicate these in my own work.

I think your last point is key for me. I’ve used pre-made layer styles many times to understand how something was accomplished, or as a starting point that can be customized. One of the cool things about layer styles is that you can adjust them to meet you own needs without needing to start over from scratch.
