I was on a Mac with OS 10.5.x and 8 GB of ram. I tried using Fireworks CS4 to build a website. It was painful. I began by opening a file originally created in Photoshop. It opened very poorly, not keeping clipping groups and some masks. This is inexcusable given that Adobe has now owned Fireworks for several years.
So, I decided I would start from scratch. It was working fairly well, although using the brush tool to apply layer masks was incredibly slow. Almost unusable. Then I got to the 5th page and the whole program became so sluggish that it really was unusable. I don’t see how this program sucks so bad? Adobe had to go to great lengths to make it this terrible compared to when Macromedia owned it. It’s really too bad, because it has many features that are great for web designers.
