Cheer up! The competition is meant to spark some insight and inspiration, more than make you feel bad. Personally I judge a design by going with my gut, which takes about less than two seconds. If you asked me why I liked a particular design or not, I would have to think about it and draw reasons based on my conclusion of whether I thought it was great or not.
