As for free online press release distribution centers, we compiled and maintain the most comprehensive list (for a fee and free) here. There are over 40+ websites listed now (also refer to the comments below) and I quickly counted at least a dozen “free” sites.

I have to wonder about BlogRush. While it certainly has gotten a lot of attention in the last week, I am not convinced that it will help people actually promote their blogs unless they already get 1000′s of pages views a day. Not to mention it seems to have it problems already with spam blogs and people cheating the system. People might be better off doing the other items you mention in link building than using BlogRush, but I guess time will tell.

I agree with you on Blog Rush. I don’t think it is the best option, that’s why I don’t use it here. I do, however, think that it is a legitimate option that some people will have some success with.

I will submit a few articles, but can I submit the same article to many websites ? like I submit an article to ezine and then I want to submit the same article to ArticleDashboard. Is it possible ?
Yes, you can submit the same articles to multiple sites (unless they state otherwise), but due to duplicate content you’ll get more out of it if you submit different articles. Of course that takes more time.
What’s especially great about this list is how most of it doesn’t require money, just time and effort put in. I think if anyone is really serious about their website, that’s what’ll they should be prepared to do. 2c.

Thanks for the links….Everything you say is great advice, some of which I’ve done already and others that I will do later. The only thing I’ve experienced to not always work well is emailing fellow bloggers or readers who comment. I have done this before and many times, which usually gets me no response whatsoever. But at least I try.

#6 seems a bit low if you ask me. I mean using a second blog to link back to yourself seems unethical and cheating in a way. Just how I see it. However, I agree that social networks do help drive a good amount of traffic for free. I actually found stumbleupon and youtube to give back a lot of traffic.

I guess I don’t see it the same way as you (and that’s fine). There are a lot of blog networks out there that all link to each other, and many bloggers have more than one project. I think if the links are relevant than it’s ok. If I’m a regular reader of a particular blogger I would like to know if he or she has other blogs, so why not provide a link?

You need the content to keep people coming back but you definately need connections for the first launch.
It’s not easy anymore to get to the first page on Digg. And as it gets popular “lighter” stories start to dominate.

one reader said some of the links mentioned are over used. Personally, I feel if it works, it cannot be over used. Only way to over use something online is using it till you see it no longer works.

Well the writer did a really good job making this lists and ways to promote your own blog. But like always there are many things that are missed out… I would suggest to bloggers to stop worrying about the traffic and starting making high quality and unique content which will attract visitor by visitor.
When you have more than 25-30 great and unique articles than you can start advertising your blog, so the newcomers will actually visit it again.
If the visitor come to your blog and see that there’s nothing interesting on it, he’ll never remember it and return.

The best way I found to promote your blog is 1) add yourself to the above social networks and then, 2) Create digests, power articles and information which HELP others accomplish something. Then OTHERS will share and promote your page/site for free! 1 in a thousand will
Example: A Blog about interior design. Article subject: “30 of the best interior design galleries”.
Example: A Blog about tech/software etc: Article subject: “The worst copycats of apple mac computers”. (List and images of all copycats.)
Good, original content which takes the viewers use into mind is 1000x a bland article or post.
Great tips! Working on them…Quality content that help others surely give your blog a boost. Don’t push yourself too hard for just promoting, give your blog reasonable time and enrich it with content that can be liked by audience.

This is a Great resource! Something I will come back to again and again… What happened to the other 67 traffic methods?
You mention ‘ YouTube’ (videos) in your list and although this method of Traffic generation takes a little more time, I highly recommended submitting videos to all video sharing channels as one of the best ways to create fast and sustainable Traffic. About 80% of my Traffic continues to come from Videos!
Shame the other 67 have vanished! Does anyone still use Blog Carnival?

This a pretty good list. It’s hard when you get started, but if you can manage to burst the first waves, it might get easier.

I have been trying to promote my online store via blog.
Although I have known most of these but still good to have them compiled.
Submit your blogs to couple of blogs directory like ….www.411topblogs.com which help you to get free traffic, reviews, statistic report and also you can post your post on their site by RSS/FEED urls.
Some good suggestions in there, and I’ve already put some of them to good use. I’m not sure that I’ll bother with doing the themes with a link in them, however, it certainly seems like a valid idea. What I am going to do is write a number of small articles to submit to article sites with the idea of drawing people back to the site.
Very good sugettions. Did Facebook get a mention in there? I didn’t see it. http://www.facebook.com/photorestoration has all my blog posts automagically fed into.
