  • swimming pool, July 1, 2009

Wow …. seriously terrific design. Thanks a million for posting this.

  • Thorough, pertinent and inspiring, like always. This is really an incredible list. I tried viewing most of the sites on the list and found some of them really good. A few, however, even though they looked nice at first, left a lot to be desired in ease-of-use and navigability.

  • website design, July 1, 2009

  • Web Design Cape Town, July 1, 2009

that is also always my concern for creative design and layout, is navigation and seo. Although it looks smart, how effective is conversions?

  • John, July 1, 2009

Is anybody else experiencing layout issues with DJ Yura’s site?

I’m using Firefox at 1024×768. I guess it’s optimized for larger screen resolutions.

  • Adam Brewer, July 1, 2009

Nice list, I like some of the layouts but not so much others – it’s good to be innovative but you must never make your site difficult to navigate. Good read nevertheless!

  • Cody, July 1, 2009

Wow these sites are definitely thinking out of the box.

  • RoLL, July 2, 2009

Nice Themes . Thank You =)

  • professional designs but just graphic designs. websites in css are clean.

  • Dainis Graveris, July 3, 2009

very good picks, nice inspiration :)

  • Web Templates, July 4, 2009

I find that non-traditional navigation can often confuse visitors and increase bounce rate. The key is to be innovative without scaring away visitors with non-traditional navigation.

  • David Stillwagon, July 5, 2009

A very creative and cleve list of designs

  • Microsoft Points, July 6, 2009

Very nice websites, they definitely are inspiring.
I wonder, if most of these sites are flash sites, or just have flash elements.

  • Web Design Company, July 9, 2009

  • PJ, July 29, 2009

Thanks for featuring me, I’m honored.

While I definitely agree that usability is important in a site’s design, I think its also equally important to evaluate how you intend to promote your site before you begin designing it. That decision could potentially free you up for some real experimentation–and fun.

Since I decided early on I was only going to use my site to show potential clients I’d already met in person, as opposed to relying on web-traffic to bring me leads, I knew I could be a little more experimental. I wanted to come up with a website that was more “interactive-design” than “usability-design,” if that makes sense. I’ve watched lots of people see my site for the first time, and I always enjoy watching how they go about it–they’re initially disoriented, then they start playing around and they discover how to operate the site as if its a game, or an actual interactive experience, instead of just a portfolio page. And they always enjoy themselves, in spite of not knowing what to do immediately.

To me, that’s worth the bounce rate–especially since I’m not relying on the site to bring me business.

  • Free PayPal Money, August 6, 2009

    Those are very unique designs!

  • Free Xbox Live, August 15, 2009

Very beautiful and unique designs. I probably visited half of the websites and I must say that it is a pleasure to be browsing such nice sites. It must have taken a lot of time and creativity to construct them.

  • Mats Svensson, August 28, 2009

So basicly anyone who can draw a “website” in crayons and knows nothing about usability or navigation is a shoe in for the “inspirational” galleries on this site?

Ill get cracking on my rorschach stained mystery meat squinty slanted 3D-text shoeshop site then.

    Long live cdrom 2.0!

  • Vandelay Website Design, August 29, 2009

    Mats,
Let me know when that design is done, I’ll be sure to give you as much exposure as I can.
